Man arrested in alleged road rage incident

Around 2 a.m. on Saturday, the LaGrange Police Department responded to reports of a road rage incident on the 100 block of Haralson Street.

According to the LPD, officers determined that a vehicle operated by Jamie Heath had allegedly intentionally struck a vehicle carrying three passengers. The vehicles were reportedly on Hines Street near Union Street when the incident occurred.

The criminal investigations section was notified and began an investigation into the incident. According to the LPD, the damage to the vehicle driven by Heath was consistent with the damage on the vehicle driven by the victims.

According to LPD, no one was injured during the incident, and Heath was taken into custody after allegedly attempting to flee in his vehicle from the police.

Heath was charged with reckless driving, fleeing/attempting to elude an officer, open container, DUI-less safe-alcohol, obstruction of officer, failure to stop for stop signs, two counts of failure to maintain lane, operating vehicle without a driver’s license and three counts of aggravated assault-other weapon. His bond was denied, and as of Monday evening, he was in Troup County Jail.
