Mr. Mark Anthony “Tony” Bishop

Mark Anthony “Tony” Bishop, 63, of LaGrange went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

Tony was born June 22, 1955 in LaGrange to the late Alvin Ferrell Bishop and Margaret “Polly” Strickland Bishop. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jackie Bishop, Bo Bishop and Alvin Ferrell Bishop Jr.

He is survived by his soul mate of 7 years, Beth Stein; son, Shawn Bishop; daughters, Melissa Bishop and Joy Proudman; sisters, Loretta (Whit) Lackey Norma (Tony) Hauck, Cathy (Keith) Johnson, Kay (Randy) Payton, Annette (Craig) Casteel, Pam (Wes) Wilson; brothers, Terry (Helen) Bishop and Wade (Gwen) Fuller; grandchildren, Preston Bishop, Cameron Bishop, Caitlin Proudman and Ethan Proudman.

Tony had several passions in life; music, old cars, golf and food/cooking. As a chef and business owner, Tony has been cooking and serving the people of LaGrange since 1976. He was a chef for Biscuit House, In Clover, Highland Country Club, John Edwards Steak and Lobster and Cleve’s. Then in September of 2003 he, along with his twin brother Terry, founded the “Cart Barn” Restaurant which is now owned and operated by his son Shawn Bishop.

Tony also loved music and attending as many concerts as possible over the years. He was an avid golfer and has traveled the world playing with fellow golfers and on various courses. His favorite golf partner was no other than his beloved brother, Terry whom he loved dearly and enjoyed every minute of life with him.

A gathering of Family and Friends will be held Thursday, March 14 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation supporting our Veterans.
