Cougars make it six straight

The Lafayette Christian School Cougars made it six straight wins with a 9-4 victory over The Campus on Thursday afternoon at the Harris Baseball Complex.

The Cougars started quickly with three runs in the first inning, and they added six more runs in the fourth inning to build a 9-0 lead.

The Campus avoided the shutout with four runs in the seventh inning.

Nathan Karvelas had two hits and two RBIs to lead the offensive effort.

Brock Tumlin had a double and an RBI, Cason Firth, Tanner Jackson and Landon Bush each had a hit and an RBI, and Adam Barnett had a double.

Barnett started and pitched five innings to get the win.

Barnett was sharp, holding The Campus to one hit and no runs with six strikeouts.

Brock Tumlin pitched a scoreless inning, and Jacob Karvelas got the final three outs in the seventh inning in relief of Cason Firth.

Lafayette Christian will try to make it seven wins in a row when it hosts Skipstone Academy on Monday, with first pitch set for 6 p.m.
