The City of LaGrange will be holding a grand opening celebration for the new skatepark in Southbend Park Saturday, April 20.
The celebration will include music, food trucks, contests, demos and prizes.
The new state-of-the-art skatepark was designed by Stantec Action Sports Group and constructed by New Line Skateparks.
This skatepark provides a safe, designated place for wheeled-sport enthusiasts including skateboarders, BMX bike riders, inline skaters and scooter riders.
The skate park is based on the latest skatepark design principles as well as durability and longevity. It features a mix of street and transition-style terrain with elements designed for all age group and ability levels.
The City of LaGrange received the prestigious Tony Hawk grant in the amount of $10,000 to help offset the cost of constructing the skatepark. The former professional skateboarder’s foundation, the Tony Hawk Foundation, helps to build skateparks in underprivileged areas.
The City of LaGrange, Callaway Foundation held its Southbend Park ribbon cutting/skatepark sneak peek Feb. 14.
