With Matthew Morgan and Wesley Kuhn combining to lock down Sandy Creek’s batters, the LaGrange Grangers eased to a 7-0 home win on Wednesday to improve to 3-2 in Region 5-AAAA.

Morgan got the start, and he threw three innings of two-hit ball, and he had four strikeouts.

Kuhn finished things off with four scoreless innings, and he held Sandy Creek to one hit while striking out three.

LaGrange started quickly with four runs in the bottom of the first inning, with Charles Crawford doing a lot of the damage with a bases-loaded triple to bring in three runs.

LaGrange added two more runs in the third inning, and one in the fifth to cap the scoring.

The two teams will play again on Friday, with the scene shifting to Sandy Creek.

Crawford’s first-inning triple was part of a big day for the junior, who had three hits, three RBIs, and three runs scored.

Will Flowers added two hits with an RBI, Cole Crawford had two hits, and Mason Green and Will Alford each had a hit

After Morgan set Sandy Creek down in order in the top of the first, LaGrange went to work in the bottom of the inning.

With one out, Green and Alford reached on back-to-back singles, and Trent Bailey walked to load the bases.

That brought Crawford to the plate, and he drove the ball past a diving left fielder for a three-run triple. Crawford then scored on a passed ball, and LaGrange led 4-0.

LaGrange added two more runs in the third inning.

Cole Crawford and Charles Crawford got things started with base hits.

Cole Crawford scored on a Flowers sacrifice fly, and Charles Crawford came home on a passed ball to give LaGrange a 6-0 lead.

In the fifth inning, Cole Crawford singled and later scored on an error to complete the scoring.
