CARTERSVILLE – The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes pushed a run across in the bottom of the 10th inning to capture a marathon 2-1 victory over the Troup Tigers on Friday.

In a game that lasted more than three hours, Cartersville finally ended it on an RBI single by Josh Davis.

Both teams scored single runs in the first inning, and that was it for the scoring until the 10th inning.

The Tigers got a brilliant pitching performance from Colby Williams, who did everything he could to keep his team in the game.

Williams pitched seven innings and held Cartersville to five hits while striking out nine and walking one, and the only run he allowed was unearned.

Daniel Martin also did a terrific job in relief, pitching 2 2/3 innings before leaving the game with two men on and two outs in the bottom of the 10th.

With new pitcher Colton Webb on the mound, Davis finally ended the suspense with his walk-off single.

The Tigers pushed their lone run across in the top of the first.

Caleb McCurry led off with a base hit, and he moved to second when Trace Meadows reached on an error.
