Mrs. Elizabeth Whitmore “Liz” Stewart, age 86, of LaGrange passed away on March 31, 2019.  Liz was born June 17, 1932 in Woodland, Alabama to the late Harvey Vester Whitmore and Lena Mae Cox Whitmore.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters and 9 brothers and step-children, Marcus Hicks, Jr. and Linda Smith. 

She worked for over 25 years at Belk Department Store followed by over 20 years of serving families at Hunter Allen Myhand Funeral Home and Higgins LaGrange Chapel Funeral Home.  She was a long-time member of Unity Baptist Church. 

Survivors include her husband, Alex Stewart; sister, Rachel Bethea; step-children, Elaine Fincher, Bobby Hicks (Sheryl), Betty Stewart, Gary Hicks (Shae), Alex Stewart, Jr. and Ken Stewart; special niece, Cindy Lee, several other nieces, nephews, extended family and canine companion, Peaches. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April, 3, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel with Rev. Bobby Robinson and Rev. Doug Bingham officiating.  Interment will follow at the Bethel East Baptist Church in Woodland, Alabama.  Family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel.  Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made in memory of Liz to the charity of your choice.  Online condolences may be made to the family at www.higginsfuneralhomes.com.  Higgins LaGrange Chapel, 706-884-7117.
