The Callaway Cavaliers swept a doubleheader from Jordan on Thursday to move a step closer to securing the second spot in Region 5-AA.

Callaway improved to 9-3 in the region, and all it needs to do is win one of three games against Heard County next week to wrap up the number two spot, which would guarantee a home series in the state playoffs.

Callaway visits Heard County on Tuesday before hosting a doubleheader on Friday.

In Thursday’s first game, which started about an hour late because of the late arrival of the umpires, Callaway eased to a 12-2 win.

The second game was a bit more competitive, with Callaway securing a 8-1 victory to complete the sweep.
