It’s not a must-win game for the LaGrange Grangers.
Even if LaGrange loses to Central-Carroll today at home, it will still have an opportunity to secure one of Region 5-AAAA’s four playoff spots.
If the Grangers win today, though, they know they’ll be in the playoffs no matter what happens with next week’s two games against the rival Troup Tigers.
If LaGrange beats Central, it would finish no lower than fourth in the region.
If the Grangers lose, they’d likely have to win one or both games next week against the rival Troup Tigers to assure themselves of a playoff spot.
LaGrange could have wrapped up a playoff berth on Wednesday, but it lost to Central-Carroll 6-4.
LaGrange got a two-run single from Brant Williams in the top of the sixth to pull even, but Central-Carroll scored twice in the bottom of the inning to reclaim the lead.
Also today, Troup will be on the road against Cedartown as it looks to remain in first place in the region.
If Troup wins its final three region games, it will be the region’s number one seed.
The Tigers have already nailed down a state-playoff spot, and if they win one of the next three games they’ll finish no lower than second.
