Mary Martin Harris, 94, of LaGrange, GA went to be with the Lord from her home on Sunday, April 28, 2019 after several years of declining health.

Mrs. Harris was born September 22, 1924 in Fort Valley, GA to the late Charles Edwin Martin and Eliza Pope Hill Martin. She was a graduate of LaGrange College (BA, 1946; M.Ed., 1981) and a retired English and Music teacher with the Troup County School System. She served as a Bible teacher and pianist throughout her adult life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur William Harris.

She is survived by her daughters Sally Harris Thompson and husband Rick, Cathy Harris Hester and Tyre; son Arthur William “Bill” Harris, Jr. and Alice, grandchildren David Thompson and wife Monica, Elisabeth Thompson White and Chris, Carol Thompson Crews and Jordan, Mark Thompson and Aarika, Beth Hester Brewer and Andy, Laura Hester Self and Jacob, Melissa Hester, Caroline Harris Thornton and Stephen, Charlotte Harris, Sarah Harris, and 14 great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, May 4 at 2:00 PM at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange, immediately followed by a Visitation at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideons International at https://www.gideons.org/
