Warrants have been issued for a mother, who allegedly picked up her two daughters in Hogansville Sunday and drove them to Texas.

According to Hogansville Police Chief Brian Harr, a warrant has been issued for April Leanne Corrales for interstate interference of custody. Police believe Corrales picked up her two daughters, 14-year-old Sophia Marie Cortez and 12-year-old Mary James Cortez, and drove them to Texas. Sophia and Mary James were last seen at their home in Hogansville on the 900 block of East Main Street Sunday at noon, which is where the children live with their father. The father has custody of the children, Harr said.

“It does look like there was some communication between the kids and mom before they actually went missing,” Harr said.

Harr said it looks like it was a mutual decision between the mom and children. Harr said there is a court order originating from Texas preventing the mother from contact with the daughters.

Harr said the police department does not believe the children are in any danger.
