There’ll be a Troup County reunion in Athens this week.
The Georgia Bulldogs will host a four-team NCAA regional, and one of their opponents will be the Florida State Seminoles.
Both teams feature players with local ties.
Logan Moody, a LaGrange High graduate, is a junior for the Georgia Bulldogs, and he has enjoyed an exceptional debut season as a college pitcher.
Jonathan Foster, a Troup High graduate, is in his second and final season as a catcher for Florida State.
The other two teams in the regional will be Florida Atlanta and Mercer.
The winner of the regional advances to a two-team super regional next week.
The winners of the super regionals will advance to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
Moody has appeared in 10 games with three starts for Georgia (36-21), and he is 1-0 with a 3.22 earned run average.
Moody was an outfielder his first two seasons at Georgia, and he took a red-shirt in 2018 as he made the transition to pitcher.
Foster has appeared in 36 games with 17 starts, and while he’s only hitting .194, he has an on-base percentage of .398.
