HOGANSVILLE – In an unusually brief Hogansville City Council meeting, the council listened to a presentation from LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce President Page Estes related to praise the city recently received at the Georgia Economic Developers Association conference held at Callaway Gardens.
“Clearly you all have taken great advantage of many of the incentive opportunities that the DCA [Georgia Department of Community Affairs] provides cities that are doing great things,” Estes said. “There were 250 people attending this conference across the state who work in economic development at the local, regional and the state level. When they were discussing communities across the state that are doing good things, Hogansville was the very first city that the commissioner mentioned.”
Hogansville is currently working its way through the budgeting cycle for the upcoming fiscal year, which will begin July 1.
The last week has seen two budgetary work sessions conducted by the city council, and while money for the impending year in the city will be tight, the recognition from a state-wide conference was well-received by the council, who applauded Estes’ remarks.
“I thought this was a wonderful opportunity for me to express appreciation to each of you for what you are doing to continue to make this a vital area,” Estes added.
The Hogansville City Council will meet again on Monday, June 17 at City Hall.
