LaGrange College discontinues public pool memberships

LaGrange College has discontinued its public pool memberships for the summer, due to a number of factors.
The college’s pool and its equipment will need repair in the next few months, according to an email from the college.
“We do not want to have sold memberships and then not be able to deliver the promised hours of operation,” said Debby Baker, who works in communications and marketing for LaGrange College.
LaGrange College also said, with the addition of Great Wolf lodge and other venues, the college is also “less able to guarantee adequate lifeguard coverage for an unpredictably fluctuating pool attendance.”
The college also has a new property and casualty insurance provider, which insists on severe restrictions on external party use.
LaGrange College sold approximately 50 to 100 pool memberships each summer. Memberships were $100 for the first adult and $25 for each additional adult. Children were free. The memberships were good from the end of May through the beginning of August.
