Global Sports Bar reopens after short closure

After opening “ahead of its time” in April, Global Sports Bar closed its doors for a week in May and has now reopened with an updated, fresher menu, according to general manager Glenn Gerbino.
“He [Mr.King, owner] decided to do it right,” Gerbino said. “So now we are using a menu with fresh food. Fresh steaks, fresh chicken, fresh chicken wings, fresh fish and all farm-fresh vegetables. And we have what we would like to think of as an upscale sports bar menu.”
Now, with a more focused menu of 27 items, 53 wide screen TVs and local ingredients purchased at local farmer markets, Global Sports Bar is striving to be a place for everyone.
“Our hope and our desire is for LaGrange to have a great local restaurant with fresh food where people can come and watch any game they want,” Gerbino said. “We are hoping for a family atmosphere as well as people from the industrial places, the college area and the young professionals.”
King has been in the restaurant business for years and owns Global Beverage Superstore a few buildings down from the bar and grill, as well.
“No good restaurants were on this side of town,” King said. “I have been here for five years and every time I went out, I could not find good food, so that’s why I opened this.”
Going further with its new renovations to staff, menu and all-around atmosphere, Gerbino said they just want people to know that the restaurant is back open and ready to serve.
“We are serving good, fresh food every night,” Gerbino said. “We want to get the word out that we are here and open and to get ready for the fall football season. We anticipate it to be our best time, because I don’t think there is this kind of a sports bar in LaGrange where people will be able to see the Georgia, LSU, Alabama or Auburn football games all at the same time.”
King said he is most excited about going further because of the menu and how “fresh” everything on it now is. Not only will sports games always be on, but the new addition of live music on Fridays has also been added to the restaurant’s offerings.
“Some Fridays it will be an acoustic guitar or other times it will be karaoke, but the vision is not to be a honky tonk, but a place you can go with your partner, have a nice dinner, hear a little enjoyable music without being blasted out,” Gerbino said. “And if the Braves are playing, like they are now, you can look up and say, ‘oh, Atlanta is winning; beautiful.’”
Open seven days a week, Global Sports Bar is located at 2169 West Point Road.
