Mr. William Stanley “Stan” Boggus, Sr.

William Stanley “Stan” Boggus, Sr., of Maccelenny, Florida passed away on June 30, 2019 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center Riverside in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in LaGrange, Georgia on November 4, 1946 to the late Solon Hill Boggus, Sr. and Florence Madeline Geiger Boggus. Stan was a lifelong resident of Georgia and recently relocated to Macclenny, FL where he became a member at Souls Harbor Church of God.

He graduated from LaGrange High School and the University of Georgia. Stan enjoyed playing football as a defensive back for the Georgia Bulldogs and also teaching people how to ski at the Callaway Gardens Ski Resort while in college. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business and started his first career as a Recreation Director for the City of Eatonton, GA. Soon after, Stan became a business owner and ran Serve Pro Franchise, a dry-cleaning laundry company, Hutcheson Milling Company, and Weight Loss and Wellness clinics in Douglas and Valdosta, GA. He also worked as a Service Manager for Fleetwood Homes for 13 years. Stan was very active, ran three miles daily, and enjoyed working. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog football fan who also enjoyed golfing, playing tennis, skiing, and rehabilitating wildlife on his 65-acre farm. He loved all animals and especially loved his family and friends. Stan was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife of 34 years, Suzanne McLain Boggus.

Stan is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Juliana “Julie” Brungardt Boggus of Macclenny, FL; children, William S. (Cathy) Boggus, Jr. of Albany, GA and Christy (Wilson) O’Berry of Douglas, GA; step-daughter, Kaitlynn Johnson of Valdosta, GA; brothers, Solon Hill Boggus, Jr. of LaGrange, GA, Jerome Buel (Peggy) Boggus of Augusta, GA, and Steven Earl (Renee) Boggus of Franklin, GA; sister, Janet Boggus of LaGrange, Georgia; four grandchildren, Will Boggus, Katy Boggus, Jacob Boggus, and Tristan O’Berry; his beloved dog, “Girl” and 16 cats.

A celebration of Stan’s Life will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Covenant Christian Church in Douglas, Georgia. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
