Mr. John Pike

Mr. John Anthony Pike, age 56, of Franklin passed away July 8, 2019 after an extended battle with cancer.
Funeral services for Mr. Pike will be conducted Thursday July 11, 2019 at 2 p.m. from Bethel Christian Church (660 Glenn Rd Franklin) with the Rev. Mark Shelnutt officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Pike was born July 10, 1962 in Heard County to Marie Harry Pike and the late William James Pike. He was a member of Bethel Christian Church. He served his country honorably in the US Navy for 10 years. His final assignment was aboard the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy. He attained the rank of Petty Officer (E5) and primarily worked in general maintenance, where he was known for his expertise in welding. He earned a Good Conduct Award and a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. After leaving the Navy he continued to work as a welder for various companies. He relished hard work and did not mind taking on difficult jobs that got his hands dirty. He brought that same work ethic home, where he enjoyed getting outside and cutting the grass. He loved his family, especially his nieces and grandson.
Survivors include: his mother, Marie Pike; two sisters, Yvonne Francis and Debbie Pike; special niece, Heather Hayes (Cary); great-niece, Katelyn Hull (Trey Strickland); great-great-nieces, Caroline Hull, and Addison Strickland all of Franklin; one daughter, Jessica Young (Chris) of Millington, TN; one son, John Pike, Jr. (Anna) of Millington, TN; one grandson, Silas Pike; and a number of other relatives and friends.
