The City of LaGrange is holding its next monthly litter cleanup event this Saturday, July 20 from 8 to 10 a.m. at Hollis Hand Elementary, located at 641 Country Club Road.

City employees and community volunteers will be picking up litter along Country Club Road as well as West Point Lake.

This event will include a scavenger hunt with prizes.

This is a family-friendly event and free and open to the public. The city will provide the vests, trash bags and gloves.

The City of LaGrange celebrated its one-year anniversary in April since beginning its “Leaving LaGrange Better Than We Found It” litter cleanup campaign. Friday, April 26, hundreds of city employees as well as dozens of citizens spent the morning picking up litter throughout the city’s main thoroughfares.

City Manager Meg Kelsey began this litter cleanup campaign in April 2018 hoping to send a message to the community that the City of LaGrange is serious about cleaning up the community. This initial event was so successful the city decided to begin hosting monthly litter pickups.
