Mr. Gary L Massey, 70, of LaGrange passed away Saturday afternoon, July 20, 2019 at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center emergency room. Mr. Massey was born April 11, 1949 in LaGrange the son of the late Claude and Maybelle Edmondson Massey.

Gary was a 1967 graduate Troup High School and 1974 Graduate of LaGrange College. Mr. Massey proudly served his country in the United States Army having obtained the rank of SP5 (E-5), and retired in 2009 from the Georgia Department of Labor after 34 year’s service. Gary was a member of Cross Point Church and enjoyed visiting with his wife at First United Methodist Church LaGrange. Mr. Massey was a good servant of the Lord and beloved by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Rumi Smith-Massey; brothers and sister-in-laws, Ken and Patty Massey, Ronnie and Joann Massey; niece and nephews, Katie Massey, Scott Massey, Bubba Massey; step-Children, Leah and Rob Smith, Charles and Casey Smith, Christi Smith, Yurii and Jeremy Crockett; 13 step grandchildren; father-in-law, Charles Wyman.

Funeral Services for Mr. Gary L. Massey will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from the chapel of the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Veitch officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home (Wednesday) evening from six until eight o’clock. Interment will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
