After a six-day investigation of a case involving $75,000 worth of stolen items, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office has made three arrests.
David Moore is charged with, theft by receiving stolen property (felony). Margaret and Joseph Waldroup, a third suspect, are both charged with theft by receiving stolen property (felony), criminal damage to property (second degree, felony) and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (felony).
On July 23, deputies and investigators with the TSCO were notified of a burglary at 138 Robertson Road, in which a Dodge Ram truck, a Polaris 1000 model side-by-side and tools were stolen from the property, all totaling nearly $75,000. During the course of the investigation, criminal investigators identified suspects in the case and on July 29 attempted to make contact with those suspects.
After speaking with the first suspect, David Moore, officers identified stolen property that belonged to the victim from the July 23 thefts. After Moore was arrested, investigators traveled to a second location on Jarrell Hogg Road and spotted what they believed to be the stolen side-by-side traveling down the road. They attempted to give chase however lost sight of the vehicle.
Investigators then went to the intended location on Jarrell Hogg Road and made contact with a female exiting a wood line who was identified as Margaret Waldroup. While speaking with Margaret, several more items from the burglary were recovered along with the stolen side-by-side which was found near the residence.
The stolen truck was found abandoned on July 25 on a road in the southern end of Troup County. If anyone has any information about this case, they are asked to call (706) 883-1616 or Crime Stoppers at (706) 812-1000.
