Mr. James Marvin “Jimmy” Chambers

James Marvin “Jimmy” Chambers, 91 of Pine Mountain, GA died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019 at Hospice LaGrange, Georgia.

Mr. Chambers was born March 28, 1928, in Pine Mountain, Georgia, formerly Chipley, Georgia, the son of James Marvin Chambers Sr. and Nancy Paul Stripling Chambers. Mr. Chambers retired from the U. S. Postal Service having served as postmaster the last eight years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Pine Mountain First United Methodist Church, Chipley Masonic Lodge# 40, Chipley Historical Center, Pine Mountain Tourism Association and was a city councilman for four years. Mr. Chamber spent time after his retirement traveling with the retired postmasters and truly enjoyed farming and his garden. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Rachel Robertson Chambers.

He is survived by his sons, James David Chambers of Pine Mountain; Richard Paul (Angela) Chambers Sr. of LaGrange, Georgia; grandchildren, Richard Paul (Marisa) Chambers, Jr. of Hapeville, Georgia, and Jacqueline McGraw of LaGrange; great-grand-grandchildren, Isabella Chambers, Isaiah Chambers, Zoe McGraw, Malachi McGraw and Ezra McGraw.

Funeral services for Mr. Chambers were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019 at the Pine Mountain First United Methodist Church. Interment followed in the Pine Mountain Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers contributions may be given in memory of Mr. Chambers to the Pine Mountain First United Methodist Church or the Hospice LaGrange.
