It was a tough day at the office for the LaGrange High softball team.

Facing a strong Harris County team that reached the second round of the state playoffs last season, LaGrange fell behind 5-0 after two innings, and it lost 9-0 in a non-region game.

After a scoreless first inning, Harris County exploded for five runs in the second inning, and it scored two runs in each of the third and fourth innings.

The game ended after the fifth inning because of the run rule.

Holly Lynn and Malone Aldridge had LaGrange’s only two hits.

LaGrange will play four more non-region games this weekend in a tournament at East Coweta.

LaGrange plays four games in two days, including a showdown against two-time defending Class AAAAAAA state-champion East Coweta on Friday.

“I’m excited about it,” LaGrange head coach Gabby Heath said of the opportunity to play East Coweta. “That’s what I told them. You’ll see what some of the best players in the state look like. You’ll get to see that, and face that, and it’ll prepare you if you do get to Columbus (for the state quarterfinals).”
