Marganne left her earthly life on August 20, 2018, to join her heavenly Father and Savior. She was born on March 25, 1944, in Nashville, TN to parents the late Dr. Willis M. Hendricks and Thelma Louise Harlan Hendricks. She along with her eight siblings were raised in LaGrange, GA. After graduation from LaGrange High School, she attended Agnes Scott College receiving a BA in History. Marganne was a talented writer, creative artist, and avid reader well-versed in many diverse subjects – religion, history, art, gardening, genealogy, and cooking. A devout Christian, she was a Sunday school teacher and Bible Study leader for over 40 years and took joy in spreading the Gospel. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church, Decatur, AL. She would often lift the spirits of friends and family with cards, many individually designed with an endearing message of love, friendship or sympathy, written in calligraphy. The garden was a place where Marganne spent many hours celebrating the bounty, harvest, and beauty of God’s earth from vegetables to be eaten, canned or given away; to flowers that brightened her yard and home. The path from her house to her gardens was well travelled, as was the path to her friends and family.
She is survived by her husband Roy Lane Price of Decatur, AL; their four children Shannon Lane Engel (Will) of Calhoun, GA; Dr. Clayborn W. Price (Julie) of Baltimore, MD; Miriam Anne Peterson (Reverend Christopher) of Covington, KY; Thomas H. Price of Decatur, AL; six grandchildren Ellen, Anna, Michael and Louisa Engel, Toby and Soren Peterson; her siblings Willis Hendricks, Jr. (Susan) of Tappahanock, VA; Dr.Clayborn Hendricks (Amy) of Virginia Beach, VA; Cecelia Thornhill (Tom) of Marietta, GA; Liza Vaughan (Barry) of Marietta, GA; Kyle Levin (Jon) of Charlotte, NC; Virginia Lee Tucker of Black Mountain, NC; Dr. Harlan Hendricks (Beth) of Columbus, GA; and Kathleen Ferry (Don) of Fanwood, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. Marganne’s life embodied faith, hard work, friendship, patience and compassion and she is loved and missed by all who knew her.
