LaGrange softball team prevails

LaGrange High’s softball team evened its Region 5-AAAA record at 2-2 with an 8-0 home win over Cedartown on Thursday.
LaGrange took control early with five runs in the first inning, and the game ended after the top of the fifth inning because of the run rule.
Abby Vanhoose hit a home run for LaGrange, and Camden Smith pitched a five-inning complete game.
After opening region play with one-run losses to Central-Carroll and Cedartown, LaGrange beat Troup 11-0 on Tuesday before dispatching Cedartown on Thursday.
Also on Thursday, Troup fell to 2-4 in Region 5-AAAA with a 22-5 loss to Cedartown.
Leading 11-5, Cedarxtown scored 11 runs in the sixth inning to put it away.
In a Region 5-AA showdown, Heard County beat visiting Callaway 9-1.
