Tough day for Troup softball team

It was one of those days for the Troup Lady Tigers.

Facing Cedartown in a Region 5-AA game on Thursday, Troup gave up 11 runs in the sixth inning on the way to a 22-5 loss.

Troup (6-7 overall) fell to 2-4 in region play heading into Monday’s game at Hardaway, and it returns to region play with Tuesday’s game at Central-Carroll.

Trailing 5-0, Troup found some life and scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning to get within one.

The rest of the game belonged to Cedartown, which outscored Troup 17-1 over the final four innings.

Cedartown finished with 20 hits, and Troup committed 10 errors.

Hadleigh Livingston and Maggie McDonald each had a hit and an RBI for Troup.

Casey Sani and Lainey Braswell had one RBI apiece.

Haley Cotton had a double, Skye Loftin had a hit and a walk, and Olivia McInvale had a single.
