The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is scheduled to host a public meeting to discuss the replacement of the Flat Shoal Creek Bridge on Highway 27 in Troup County. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rosemont Baptist Church, 3794 Hamilton Road, LaGrange, Georgia 30241.
The proposal for the project involves replacing the existing bridge on Highway 27 over Flat Shoal Creek. The proposed bridge would be constructed in place along existing alignment but an approximate 16.3 mile off-site detour, which includes a 5.4 mile trip increase, would be needed during the construction phase. The proposed detour would require traffic to travel along Georgia 18 and Interstate 185/Georgia 411.
The County would like to encourage the community to attend in order to contribute feedback, as this will affect all residents who travel Highway 27. The public meeting will enable citizens to view the project details and proposed detour plan, as well as allow the opportunity to ask questions about the project. According to GDOT, the meeting will be informal and the public is invited to attend during the hours listed.
There will be a court reporter available to allow the public an opportunity to make comments.
