Eighteen teams from various companies and organizations in Troup County competed in the 2019 Lions Club Golf Tournament Thursday afternoon.

The annual fundraiser allows the club to give to local and national charities related to eye care.

“We raised over $10,000, which about 95 to 98 percent of our money raised stays in Troup County,” said volunteer and Lions Club member Larkin Dorsey. “This is our biggest fundraiser we do all year.”

According to Dorsey, the money will to go to help fund charities that are centered around vision related issues, like Leader Dogs for the Blind and vision problems such as diabetes.

The 2019 winners of the tournament was the Hometown Physicians team.

“We appreciate everyone being here, we appreciate your support and everything we generate … goes back into the community,” said Lions Club member Murray Schine.

“I know it was very hot out there but I hope everyone had a great time and comes back next year.”
