Friends of The Thread recently donated an Exmark lawn mower to the City of LaGrange to help with the continuation of the city’s daily maintenance of The Thread and areas surrounding it.

“Part of our mission is to promote and support the maintenance of The Thread, and so far, there is 6.6 miles of it, which is a lot of grass to be mowed,” said FOTT Executive Director Natalie Hale.

According to Hale, funding for the lawn mower came from some of the portions of money raised from Dancing for The Thread.

“We wanted to give back to those who help support the cause,” Hale said. “The maintenance can be very expensive, so any little bit we can give to them helps.”

The city was able to pick out the specific lawn mower to fit to the needs of the high-work load of daily maintenance to The Thread.

There is currently five miles of The Thread currently open and an additional 1.6 miles were just built. The Country Club portion of the new addition will open at the ribbon cutting on Sept. 26 at 10 a.m.

“Additionally, the Callaway Foundation will dedicate the boardwalk to a former employee,” Hale said.
