Emma Amanda Paige

Emma Paige, 81, formerly of Lagrange, passed away on August 20, 2019 at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA. Emma Amanda Paige the daughter of the late Edward and Dora McGhee Paige was born in Lagrange. Emma was a graduate of East Depot Class of 1956 and studied at Spelman College in Atlanta.

In the late 1950s, Emma moved to New York to pursue a career as a ballet dancer and continued her education at Pratt Institute.  She auditioned for Broadway Plays and Shows including The Original “ Dreamgirls.”Emma became a Serial Entrepreneur during the course of her life; a Licensed Realtor, Children’s Clothing Business, Janitorial Service, Catering Service, Owned Three Restaurants in Brooklyn and a Manager for a Bakery Chain in Brooklyn Heights and Manhattan, NY. She relocated to Richmond, VA. and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, attending plays, art galleries, museums and sports.

She is preceded in death in addition to her parents by three sisters, Harriett, Evelyn and Mildred; six brothers Edward, Jr., Maxwell, Van, Gwen, Alvin and Ralph Paige.

Emma leaves to cherish her memory, two children, Sakina (Jamal) Karima Paige and Rahim (Sara) Robert Paige of Richmond, VA; three grandchildren, Tessler, Robert and Aston Elizabeth Paige, and Judah Robert Thomas of Richmond, VA; two sisters Elizabeth Thornton of LaGrange, Maxine (Skelton) Key of Norwalk, CT; two brothers Arnold Paige of Atlanta, and Robert (Mary Alice) Paige of Richmond, VA; beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Memorial Homegoing Celebration will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at The Cochran Gallery on East Lafayette Square Downtown with Scott Cox as the officiating eulogist. In lieu of flowers, make your donations to: The School of Performing Arts, Richmond, VA. 23230

A Meet and Greet will be held with the family from 12:30 p.m. until start of service at 1 p.m.
