LaGrange High’s softball team scored four first-inning runs on the way to a 5-1 home win over Troup on Thursday.

It was a key win for LaGrange (15-8), which improved to 5-3 in Region 5-AAAA and remained in second place.

Troup (7-11 overall) fell to 3-7 in the region, and it is in sixth place.

Also on Thursday, Callaway hosted Head County in a Region 5-AA showdown, and it was all about offense.

Trailing 12-1, Callaway scored 10 runs in the fifth inning to get within one before Heard County pulled away with the 18-11 win.

Callaway (11-10 overall) is 2-5 in the region.
