The March of Dimes took to the greens Friday afternoon for its 28th annual March of Dimes Diverse Power Golf Tournament.

More than 40 golfers and 11 teams gathered at The Fields Golf Course to support the mission of the March of Dimes, which is to fight for the health of all moms and babies.

“The March of Dimes has saved the lives of millions of babies since our founding, and we won’t stop until we reach a day when every day baby is born healthy,” said Development Manager Carla Starling.

“We carry out this mission through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies’ lives. Our researchers, volunteers, educators, outreach workers and advocates work together to give all babies a fighting chance against the threats to their health from premature birth, birth defects and low birth weight.”

For the past decade, Diverse Power has served as the corporate sponsor for the annual golf tournament.

“We had a great turnout with a lot of returning teams,” Starling said.

The money raised from the event will go toward research on the causes of premature birth and infant mortality.

“It is our desire to deliver the healthiest beginnings, so that every generation has the brightest tomorrow,” Starling said.

The team from Synovus Mortgage took home first place and Malone Workplace Solutions placed second.

“Malone Workforce Solutions in partnership with Hyundai Transys Seating Systems joined together to form a team to play in and support the local March of Dimes golf tournament,” said Executive Vice President of Malone Workforce Solutions Jamey Jackson.

“The March of Dimes provides research and treatments that support premature infants. Prematurity is the number one killer of babies in the United States.  We are more than happy to support that cause and shine a bigger spotlight on that issue facing so many families.”
