LaGrange wins regular-season finale

The LaGrange High softball team put the finishing touches on an exceptional regular season with a 3-2 road win over Columbus on Tuesday.
LaGrange (20-8) closed the regular season on a six-game winning streak while winning nine of 10 overall, and it will face Central-Carroll in the Region 5-AAAA championship series next week.
Regardless of the outcome of the Central-Carroll series, LaGrange will be at home for the first round of the state playoffs.
In Tuesday’s game, all of the scoring took place in the sixth inning.
LaGrange scored three runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead, and Columbus plated two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Macee Stone got the complete-game victory for LaGrange, and she held Columbus to three hits and two runs in seven innings.
LaGrange had six hits, and four of them came in the sixth inning.
Malone Aldridge led off with a double, and Abby Vanhoose followed with an RBI single to give LaGrange the lead.
With two outs, Holly Lynn’s base hit scored Vanhoose, and Stone capped the rally with an RBI double.
Jacee Marable had two hits for LaGrange, and Aldridge, Vanhoose, Lynn and Stone had one hit apiece.
