Mrs. Mildred Ann Stowers Gates

Mildred Ann Stowers Gates was born on February 27, 1960 in Fulton County, Georgia to the late Pauline Stowers and Horace Reese. Mildred was united in holy matrimony to Robert Gates, Jr. To this union, a beautiful daughter, April Michelle Gates was born. She attended elementary and high school in Atlanta, Georgia. She also attended Greenville High School in Greenville, Georgia. Mildred united with the True Holiness Church of God in Jesus’ Name, Inc. under the leadership of Pastor John Poythress, III. Mildred loved working in the food industry. She was employed by Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia. She also was previously employed by Kentucky Fried Chicken in LaGrange, Georgia. On Monday, September 23, 2019, Mildred departed this earthly life and transitioned to her Heavenly home. She leaves to cherish her memories one loving and devoted daughter, April Michelle Gates of LaGrange; on Godson, Carlos Mon’ta Poythress and one Goddaughter, Jakhia Copeland, all of LaGrange. Mildred has four sisters, Pauline Reese, of Adairsville, Ga., Paulette Reese of Cartesville, Ga., Rena (Dwight) Curtis of Calhoun, Ga., Mary Ann (Greg) Ponder of Acworth, Ga.; one stepbrother, Willie (Linda) Harris of Rome, Ga. She also leaves to cherish her memory, one Aunt and Uncle, two sisters-in-law, three brothers in law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Mildred also leaves a loving and devoted best friend, co-pastor and sister-in-Christ, Brenda Poythress. She also leaves a best friend, Josephine Dallas of LaGrange and special niece Janice Garret of Fayetteville, Georgia. Services for Mildred will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Hunter Allen Myhand Chapel. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
