It was a winning senior day for Troup’s softball team, which overwhelmed Hardaway 15-4 on Thursday.

Before the game, seniors Skye Loftin, Olivia McInvale and Tashauna Askew were honored, and those three players then helped Troup win its regular-season finale.

Next up for Troup is the Region 5-AAAA tournament, and it will face Cedartown in a best-of-three series beginning on Thursday.

The winner of the series will qualify for the state playoffs, while the season will end for the losing team.

In Thursday’s game, Troup took control early on the way to its second win in three games this week.

After Hardaway scored three runs in the top of the first inning, Troup answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead.

Troup continued to pour it on, and the game ended after the top of the fifth inning because of the run rule.

Sage Loftin had three of Troup’s 10 hits, and she had two RBIs.

Skye Loftin celebrated senior day with a double and two RBIs, Avery Pearson had two hits and three RBIs, and Jennifer Albertson had two hits and two RBIs with two runs scored.

McInvale had a double and an RBI, Haley Cotton had a hit and an RBI, Caroline McInvale walked twice and scored a run, and Morgan Watkins walked and scored a run.

Askew, starting at catcher on senior day, scored a run.

Pearson pitched the five-inning complete game, holding Hardaway to four hits and three earned runs.
