Minister Samuel Roger Jones, Sr., 86, of LaGrange, GA was ushered into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at West Georgia Medical Center.

Mr. Jones was born September 25, 1933 in Lanett, AL to the late William Henry Jones and Carrie Adell Hornsby Jones. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, receiving 4 Bronze Stars. Mr. Jones served as a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America at the Dixie Mill Troop 220 and retired from International Playtex as a Plant Manager. He will best be remembered for his many years of service to the kingdom of God, ministering, running revivals, and pastoring numerous churches. Minister Jones began and ended his pastoral duties at the Lebanon Christian Church in Roanoke, AL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Jones and Harold Jones; and a sister, Marion Jones Allen.

Survivors include his loving wife, Glimerene Allen Jones; daughter, Vickie Jones Shows; sons, Samuel Roger (Gayla) Jones, Jr. and Richard William Jones; grandchildren, Erin Verelle Shows (fiancé, Mark Spivey), Samuel Roger “Skeet” Jones III (Jana), Kelly Marie Shows Wood; four great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister, Micki Jones (Wayne) Werner; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, October 1, 2019 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Celebration of Life Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2019 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Minister Mike Mallory officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lebanon Christian Church, Roanoke, AL in memory of Minister Samuel Roger Jones, Sr.
