Mr. Robert “Bobby” Lee Nelms, 84, of LaGrange, GA peacefully passed away Friday, October 4, 2019 at Arbor Spring, Opelika, AL surrounded by his family.  He made it in time to celebrate his 66th wedding anniversary in Heaven with his wife by his side.

Mr. Nelms was born August 26, 1935 in Franklin, GA, son of the late Robert “Bob” Lee Nelms and Willie Lee Lipham Nelms.  He was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square and was retired from Nelms Electrical Service, which he owned and operated for 40 years.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife, Judith Elizabeth Eady Nelms; three brothers, Dovard Nelms, Harold Nelms, and Douglas “Jet” Nelms; and two sisters, Louise Nelms Daniel and Zelma Nelms Daniel.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Judy) Nelms of Cullman, AL and Mark (Becky McKeen) Nelms of Auburn, AL; daughter, Kathryn (JR) Roberts of Valley, AL; two grandchildren, Jeremy (Elizabeth) Nelms of Blairsville, GA and Katie (Jacob) Fine of Cullman, AL; three great grandchildren, Bradlee Nelms of Blairsville, GA, Mara Nelms of Blairsville, GA, and Cooper Fine of Cullman, AL; and four very special caregivers, Holly McCart, Lashonda Caver, Mary Overby, and Shirley Wilson.

Celebration of Life services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2019 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Dr. Paul Baxter, Rev. Tom Farr, and Rev. Paul Blair officiating.  Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.  The gathering of family and friends will be on Friday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to First Baptist Church on the Square, LaGrange, GA or Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Mr. Robert “Bobby” Lee Nelms.
