Curtis Brown is a candidate for the District 1 seat on the LaGrange City Council.

Brown said in the six years he and his wife, Shaundre, have lived in LaGrange, they have been committed to raising their family and serving the community through their professions, boards, service organizations and relationships with our neighbors.

He made the decision to run for council after prayer and council from trusted friends.

For the last 20 years, Brown has lived in several “big cities” in the pursuit of professional and academic opportunities, but he said when he got to LaGrange, he immediately felt at home.

Brown said his experience as a director on boards like the LaGrange Industrial Development Authority, Troup County Center for Strategic Planning, WellStar West Georgia Medical Center and Three Rivers Regional Commission have allowed him to support workforce, education, community health and economic development priorities.

Brown said service through Trustbuilding Inc., United Way, Rotary, Friends of The Thread and LaGrange College Leadership Council have helped him develop relationships with other community leaders and ensure that important projects that benefit all citizens move forward.

Brown said participation in Leadership Georgia and Leadership Troup has allowed him to learn best practices from statewide and community institutions that guide his vision for LaGrange.

In 2017, Brown was the co-chair of the historic SPLOST campaign that received 72 percent voter approval to fund projects like The Thread, road improvements an critical public safety upgrades for law enforcement and the fire department.

Brown believes we live in a special place, and said he want to ensure that we can sustain its glory and beauty to pass it along to future generations. Visit to learn more about his campaign.
