The Callaway Cavaliers have a region championship in hand, and now they’ll try to close the regular season with a flourish.
Callaway (8-1 overall) will carry an eight-game winning streak into Thursday’s road game against a Jordan team that has yet to win this season.
After Thursday’s game, Callaway won’t play again until it hosts a first-round state-playoff game on Nov. 8.
Thursday’s game features two teams going in opposite directions.
While Callaway hasn’t lost since falling to Opelika 10-7 in its season opener, Jordan is 0-8, and it has given up nearly 42 points per game.

Also this week, the Troup Tigers and LaGrange Grangers will continue their Region 5-AAAA schedules.
Troup (5-3 overall) is 2-2 in region play, and it has a critical home game against Central-Carroll on Friday night, and it be homecoming.
LaGrange (2-6 overall) is 0-5 against region opponents, and it will finish region play on Friday night at Chapel Hill.
Lafayette Christian School is off this week, and it won’t play again until it hosts a GICAA state-playoff game on Nov. 8.
