The LaGrange Police Department was dispatched to the 400 block of South Greenwood Street Saturday night in reference to a person shot.

According Sgt. Robert Kirby, officers made contact with the 54-year-old male victim who stated that while in his home with a female acquaintance, a black male entered his residence.

The victim told the police the unknown male was allowed to stay since the female knew him.

LPD said that the suspect then began to hit the man in the face and proceeded to steal his handgun. He then left the area.

The victim told LPD that the suspect left the residence, but then came back.

“We don’t know exactly why the altercation occurred,” Kirby said. “He took the gun and then came back and shot him in the buttocks.”

The victim was taken to WellStar West Georgia where he was treated and released for his injuries.

According to LPD, the suspect is described as a black male in his late 20s, tall, medium build with dreadlocks. The Criminal Investigation Section responded to the scene and started an investigation.
