Ashley Bowden capped her terrific senior season with a 38th-place finish in the Class AA state cross-country meet on Saturday in Carrollton.

Bowden finished the 3.1-mile course in a time of 24 minutes, two seconds to lead her team.

Callaway’s other runners were Vivian Streiff (29:30), Sara Belton (31:01), Lydea Mayes (31:21) and Myracle Spence (37:00).

It was the final high-school race for Bowden and Belton, who are both seniors.

Callaway’s boys’ team was led by senior Calik Kemp (20:17), who placed 84th overall.

Other runners for the Cavaliers were Desmon Nunley (21:21), Lane Thompson (21:50), Colton Alsobrook (22:40), Brett Belton (23:39), Avery Brooks (24:53) and Maurice Delaney Jr. (25:19).

Of those seven runners, only Kemp won’t return next season for the Cavaliers.
