Veterans from across Troup County will be honored Monday for the annual observance of Veterans Day.

Events are scheduled in Hogansville and LaGrange to honor those who served in the military.

In LaGrange, the 2019 Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at the Troup County Veterans Memorial beginning at 11 a.m.

The member organizations of the West Georgia Veterans Council are hosting this annual ceremony in honor of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month when the armistice agreement to end World War I took effect.

The American Legion Post 75, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 31, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4629 and 1st Sgt. Charles F Waller of Detachment 1040, Marine Corps League, will all be in attendance at the event.

The ceremony will include two messages from Troup High School Air Force ROTC Cadet Col. Cody Bagley and Callaway High School Air Force ROTC Cadet Capt. Siderick Cameron. A laying of the wreath will also be presented and the ceremony will recognize the veteran of the year.

The City of Hogansville will host its annual Veterans Day Service at 11 a.m. on Monday at Calvin Hipp Veterans Memorial Park across from the former PNC bank building at Lord and High streets.

This year’s keynote speaker will feature Callaway High School Air Force Junior ROTC Chief Master Sergeant (Ret.) Arnold Lamb.

The Hogansville Elementary School chorus will also perform during the ceremony. Hogansville will also recognize this year’s Veteran of the Year, Sgt. Winston L. Braswell, Jr., Commander of American Legion Post 152 in Hogansville.

Additionally, The LaGrange Elks Lodge on 905 South Davis Road will be serving a free meal to all veterans, active duty personnel and their families on Veterans Day 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
