Mr. James Oscar “Jim” Thompson, Jr., age 77, of LaGrange, passed away  on November 11, 2019 at the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center.  Mr. Thompson was born on April 16, 1942 in Troup County, Georgia to the late James Oscar Thompson, Sr. and Ola Louise Brooks Thompson.  In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Ann Morris Thompson.  Survivors include his son, Mark Thompson; granddaughters, Brooke Cox and her husband Casey and Lindsey Ransom and her husband Joshua; brother, Billy Thompson and his wife Geri; great grandchildren, Kasen Ransom and Gracelynn Cox; extended family and a host of friends.  Mr. Thompson was the Superintendent of Cemeteries for the City of LaGrange for over 34 years.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church on the Square and an active member of the LaGrange Shrine Club.  Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church on the Square with Pastor Brad Thompson, Pastor Cade Farris and Dr. Paul Baxter officiating.  Family entombment will be held at a later date.  Family will receive friends on Friday beginning at noon until service hour in the church Sanctuary.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richard Shiver Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church on the Square or to the LaGrange Shrine Club.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.higginslagrangechapel.com.  Higgins LaGrange Chapel Funeral Home, 706-884-7117.
