LaGrange trailed 12-4 after the first quarter, but it outscored Newnan 15-4 in the second quarter to take a lead it held throughout the second half.

Senior guard Kamelah Kelley led LaGrange with 15 points.

In the boys’ game, Newnan won 50-39.

“Hopefully we can get off to a good start,” said Mark Veal, head coach of the LaGrange boys’ team.
