Working hard to Keep Troup Beautiful

Dear Editor,

I am writing in response to the “Our View” piece on the editorial page of your Oct. 18 edition. I applaud The LaGrange Daily News’ recognition of the efforts in our community to “keeping our roads clean.”

For close to 30 years, the mission of Keep Troup Beautiful has been, in part, to “encourage behavioral changes and individual responsibility” when it comes to caring for our county.

The “Our View” editorial appropriately gives credit to the city of LaGrange and the Troup County Sheriff’s office for their ongoing efforts. We applaud these efforts. But, we want our community to know there other efforts going on around the county that deserve recognition and support as well.

We as Keep Troup Beautiful want to remind The LaGrange Daily News and our community that our organization supports many efforts throughout the county to recycle, beautify and stop litter. As a small non-profit that is affiliated with Keep America Beautiful, we encourage “adoptions” of our county streets and roads by individuals and groups to keep our county looking good and to help protect our environment. We support neighborhood clean ups throughout the county.  Although the City of LaGrange reduced its support of our efforts this year, we continue to receive support from the County, Hogansville, West Point and a few of our local businesses. We strive to be deserving of any local support and welcome any and all volunteers.
