Troup teams roll at Heard County

The Troup Tigers improved to 2-0 with a 59-27 over the Heard County Braves on Friday  night.

Thirteen players saw time on the court for the Tigers, and every one of them scored.

Ricco Person and Camren O’Neal led the Tigers with 10 points apiece, and Isaiah Cox added seven points.

The Tigers took control early, outscoring the Braves 14-4 in the first quarter, and they had a 28-11 lead at the half.

Troup continued to pull away in the second half to get the road win.

In the girls’ game, Troup (2-0) eased to a 69-32 victory over Heard County.

Aniya Palmer led Troup with 17 points, with eight of those points coming in the first quarter.

Freshman Alexcia Murphy added 16 points, Samarria Weldon scored 13 points, and Amber Gilbert made two 3-pointers and scored 10 points.

Troup blew it open early, taking a 21-5 lead after the first quarter, and it was ahead 42-5 at the half.

Troup’s teams host Upson-Lee on Tuesday.

Also on Friday, LaGrange’s teams earned road wins over Northside-Columbus.

In the girls’ game, LaGrange avenged an earlier loss to Northside with a 45-39 victory.

In the boys’ game, LaGrange improved to 3-0 with a 49-44 win.

LaGrange beat Northside for the second time this season.

Troup’s teams will be back home on Tuesday against Pike County.
