GREENVILLE – The Troup Lady Tigers (4-0) stayed unbeaten with a 67-62 win over Greenville in a game that went to three overtimes.
Senior Amber Gilbert had a big night for Troup with 24 points, and 13 of those points came in overtime.
Gilbert kept getting fouled, and she ended up making 12-of-14 free-throw attempts to help Troup hold on for the win.
Aniya Palmer added 13 points for Troup, Alexcia Murphy contributed 10 points, and Jada Green scored nine points.
There wasn’t quite as much suspense in the boys’ game, with Troup easing to a 60-47 victory to improve to 3-1.
Callaway led 35-22 at the half, and it maintained a comfortable lead throughout the second half.
Gabe Cofield led the Tigers with 21 points, and K.J. Tucker scored nine points.
Ten different Troup players scored in the game.
“The communication, especially from our seniors, was really great all night,” Troup head coach Blake Craft said. “The leadership was where it needed to be. It’s starting to click.”
Troup’s teams will visit East Coweta next Friday.
