The Troup Tigers will continue their challenging early-season schedule with a road game against East Coweta on Friday.
While Troup brings a 3-1 record into the game, East Coweta is 7-1 after getting an impressive win over Sandy Creek earlier in the week.
Troup opened the season with wins over Harris County and Heard County before losing 79-70 in overtime to a strong Upson-Lee team.
Troup bounced back for a 60-47 road win over Greenville last week.
The Tigers are getting it done with a balanced offense, as well as a defense that has been stingy.
“They’re taking what we’re saying, and they’re listening to it,” said Blake Craft, Troup’s third-year head coach.
Troup has been getting offensive contributions from a bunch of different players, including junior guard K.J. Tucker, who missed the 2018-2019 season with injuries sustained in a car accident.
Tucker had nine points in the win over Greenville.
“We were expecting him to play some minutes on varsity last year as a sophomore,” Craft said. “He’s a player. He’s developing more and more, getting into the flow, so that’s always positive.”
Also on Friday, Troup’s girls’ team will try to improve on its 4-0 record with a win over East Coweta.
East Coweta (4-2) is coming off a 40-39 loss to Sandy Creek on Tuesday.
Troup remained unbeaten with a dramatic double-overtime win over Greenville last week.
