Mrs. Bobbie Jean Clay, age 76, was born July 29, 1943, daughter of Ruben Marshall Morris and Gladys Speakes Morris. She joined her parents in Glory on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019.

Mrs. Clay was born in Cragford, Alabama, and grew up in LaGrange, where she achieved perfect attendance while attending Dawson Street Elementary and Hill Street Junior High Schools and graduating from LaGrange High School. With marriage to her husband of 56 years, Emory Clay, she became a longtime resident of Meriwether County where she was a devoted homemaker, with the love and care of her family always the central focus of her life. She was a member of Mount Hope Baptist Church, where she cherished her church family.

Mrs. Clay found much joy in reading books, newspapers and especially her Bible and devotions, and enjoyed singing from memory old hymns and old songs from the radio. She also found great pleasure in capturing thankful thoughts in journals about her activities of the day and experiences with her family. Through the years, she worked in various positions, ranging from business bookkeeping, retail and industrial and was a former employee of Hughes Aircraft in LaGrange.

She also enjoyed trips to visit family and trips with friends at the Active Life Center in LaGrange.

Survivors include her husband, Emory Clay of Woodbury; sons, Clint Clay of Lexington Park, Maryland, and Cliff Clay of Woodbury; brother, Jimmy Morris and his wife Brenda of LaGrange; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, at Mount Hope Baptist Church in Warm Springs. The Rev. Steve Garner and the Rev. S. T. Janney will officiate and interment will be in New Friendship Baptist Cemetery in Woodbury.

Her family will love and miss her until they meet again in Heaven on that glad reunion day. EMMANUEL, GOD WITH US.
