Another game, another victory for the unbeaten LaGrange Grangers.

LaGrange (8-0) made it eight consecutive wins to start the season with a 72-30 victory over home-standing Pike County on Thursday.

The Grangers took care of business early, surging to a 20-4 lead after the first quarter, and they were ahead 31-11 at the half.

LaGrange continued to pull away in the second half as head coach Mark Veal made sure everyone got significant playing time.

“We got a lot of people in, and it was a good team win,” Veal said.

Senior guard D.J. Burks led the Grangers with 21 points, and Kindae Maddox added 19 points.

“We finally shot the ball well from the perimeter,” Veal said. “I think we hit eight threes on the night.”

LaGrange’s girls’ team, meanwhile, won for the fourth time in five games with a 56-23 victory over Pike County.

Senior Qua Robinson led a balanced scoring effort with 14 points, Kamelah Kelley added 12 points, and Ayanna Ramsey scored 11 points.

LaGrange’s teams will visit Callaway on Monday, with the girls’ game tipping off at 6 p.m., and the boys’ game to follow.
