Local offices closed for Christmas holiday

During Christmas week, many local offices will be closed for several days in observance of the holiday.

The city’s of West Point, LaGrange and Hogansville offices will all be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Troup County Government offices will be closed on Dec. 25 and 26.

In LaGrange, garbage and recycling pickup will run Tuesday, Dec. 24 until noon. Residents are encouraged to leave bins out Monday evening for Tuesday pickup so city crews can finish their routes by noon and return back home to their families. 

LaGrange, Hogansville and West Point garbage and recycling will not run Wednesday, Dec. 25. Garbage and recycling pickup will be pushed back by one day.  

All Troup County Convenience Centers will be closed on Dec. 25-26 in observance of the Christmas holiday. All centers will reopen Friday, Dec. 27 at their normally scheduled times.

The City of LaGrange will place several extra garbage bins throughout the community to help with overflow trash during the holiday season. The bins will be available Dec. 23 through Dec. 31 at LaGrange Fire Station (1212 Hogansville Road), Hollis Hand School (641 Country Club Road), Granger Park Track parking lot, Brenda Boulevard/Kings Park Lane, Colquitt Street/McGregor Street and Daniel Street/Dix Street.

The LaGrange, Hogansville, West Point and Troup County city offices will also be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1. All LaGrange, West Point and Hogansville garbage/recycling pick up for New Year’s Day will be pushed back/delayed by one day. All Troup County Convenience Centers will also be closed on Jan. 1 in observance of the New Year’s holiday, and they will reopen on Jan. 2 at the normally scheduled times.

Police and fire services will remain open for both holidays.

The LaGrange Memorial Library and Hogansville Public Library will be closed on Dec. 24-26 and Dec. 31 – Jan. 1. 

The U.S. Postal Service will not deliver mail on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day, so The LaGrange Daily News will not be delivered on those days.
